The Maine chapter of Make-A-Wish was founded in 1992 and serves children in each of Maine's 16 counties. We have granted over 1,800 wishes since our first year and this organization grants an average of one wish every five days. No matter the circumstances, our objective remains to provide each child and family with a worry-free experience that has the power to help a child replace fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope.
Make-A-Wish brings an entire community together to rally around wish kids. From medical providers who introduce children to the idea of a wish, to over 200 statewide trained volunteers who walk alongside children and their families in their medical journey and help turn their fear to hope, to donors and corporate partners who offer their passion and resources to make customized wish experiences possible, and even to past wish kids who often grow into adulthood and continue to support other wish families – they all know that a wish can be life-changing for everyone involved. Granting wishes is something we all have the power to do.
