WHY WE CHOSE MAKE-A-WISH​

In our early days, W.A. Smith Financial Group gave to dozens of local organizations. While we believed in the good all of those charities were doing, we realized that, because we gave to so many, our donations weren’t really moving the needle. Our team decided to pick one organization to focus on, so our donations would have a significant impact on people in need.​

Since 2017, we’ve focused our fundraising on helping the Make-A-Wish organization grant wishes for kids diagnosed with critical illnesses. Through events like our charity Golf Outing and Lake Erie Crushers game, or by donating a portion of Bill’s book sales, our clients help us raise money that helps grant wishes for kids in our area.

Over the past 5 years, W.A. Smith Financial Group has been able to raise over $225,000 and grant more than 20 wishes for local boys and girls. We smashed our goal of granting six wishes in 2021 and were able to grant a total of nine! So, we want to keep the momentum going. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have learned to pivot our fundraising and didn't want it to stop us. Our hope is that this raffle will allow everyone the chance to give to a great cause with the added bonus of winning something fabulous for yourself! Together, we would love to be able to grant a couple of more wishes this year!
