Since 1891 St. Bernard has educated and shaped the lives of young men and women to become leaders, pioneers, and trailblazers -- all making the world a better place.
30 Days of Thanks and Giving is a small, seasonal campaign that celebrates St. Bernard and its most important asset -- our people. In the 30 days leading up to Giving Tuesday, we will celebrate St. Bernard and share with you the many reasons why we are thankful for St. Bernard.
This year, 30 Days of Thanks and Giving will focus on the classroom, raising money for our new Classroom Grant Program. Earlier this year we asked all of our teachers to develop a "wish list" of up to three of the most needed items for their classrooms.
We aim to raise at least $1,000 per teacher / area which will be administered in the form of grant allowances. Our nurses' office and library will also receive project grants.
100% of all money raised from this project will be divided equally among every single one of our teachers as well as our nurses' office and library.
St. Bernard Preparatory School is recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization by the IRS and all gifts made to the school are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
***This is a perfect opportunity to make a charitable gift before the 2021 calendar year ends to add to your charitable giving totals for your income tax returns filed in 2022.***
Celebrating 130 years of educational excellence this year, our Classroom Grant Program has a goal to provide needed dream items to every one of our classrooms.
As the world continues to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Bernard is no exception. Our teachers often must purchase needed classroom items from their own personal funds.
This project aims to relieve the strain this places on our teachers and help provide them needed classroom items they may not be able to provide their students otherwise.
We hear the positive feedback from our donors and your excitement around tangible, specific projects. We hope this project will again excite and inspire our donors to make gifts to SBP that will create immediate, direct, and lasting impact for our students today and those of tomorrow.
Every one of our teachers as well as our nurses' office and library will receive an equal portion of the funds in the form of grant allowances. The project goal is a minimum of $1,000 per teacher / area.
This project aims to support our teachers with the ability to provide them needed, quality items so as to give our students every educational advantage in the classroom.
Our teachers often earn a smaller salary than Alabama public school teachers, yet they are committed to their students and a love of learning. Your gift to this project allows our teachers to purchase needed classroom enrichment items without having to use their personal funds.
Mindful of the ongoing campaigns supporting the School and Abbey, we make this three-point promise:
1. This is a self-sustaining campaign -- only gifts made to this project will be used to support it.
2. Our teachers will each receive an equal share of 100% of all money raised.
3. All items to be purchased with the grants are approved by school leadership, ensuring they are proven classroom needs.
The promise ensures responsible gift stewardship while respecting all donors making gifts to sustain us now and into our next 130 years.

WHAT IF THE GOAL IS EXCEEDED?
Any additional gifts beyond our initial goal are happily welcomed! That means more money will be divided up equally for each grant!
We've asked all of our teachers, our nurses' office, and library to develop a "wish list" of up to 3 items totaling approximately $1,000. These items have already been approved as classroom needs by our school leadership. 100% of all money raised will be divided equally and issued to each teacher / area as a grant allowance to purchase these needs.
Items from these lists include everything from calculator caddies, laptops for student engagement, Chromebook charging carts, maps and GIS software for Geography, new sheet sets for the nurses' office, textbooks, books to complete classroom libraries, printers and computers for student needs, photography supplies, instruments, band chairs, balances and scales for Chemistry, to financial periodical subscriptions for Economics and more. The list goes on...the need is great.
CAN I DESGINATE MY GIFT TO SUPPORT A SPECIFIC ITEM?
No. All money raised will be divided equally among all SBP teachers / areas. Your gift will be a contribution to the full project and is considered a general donation to the campaign. Thank you for supporting all of St. Bernard Prep's work.
IS MY CONTRIBUTION TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes. Charitable contributions made to St. Bernard Preparatory School, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
We always recommend consulting with your tax advisor before you make a charitable gift. Make a year-end charitable contribution today to count towards your 2021 charitable giving totals for your 2022 income tax returns.
CAN I DESGINATE MY GIFT TO SUPPORT A SPECIFIC TEACHER OR AREA?
No. Internal Revenue Service regulations and tax laws do not allow a donor to designate a gift to a specific person -- it invalidates the charitable nature of the gift. Thank you for only making your gift payable to St. Bernard Prep School for the 30 Days of Thanks and Giving project.
WILL I RECEIVE A RECEIPT FOR MY CONTRIBUTION?
Yes. We will send you an emailed receipt shortly after you complete your transaction. A mailed acknowledgement letter / tax receipt will follow.
