About Caring Connections

Caring Connections is a non-profit cooperative program of the Bangor Region YMCA and Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Our primary goal is to improve the physical and emotional wellness of individuals in Eastern Maine through outreach, advocacy, education, support and access to quality cancer screenings

Since arriving in the USA from Ireland in 2019, I have encountered several challenges. One of the biggest hurdles was finding a health care provider, as I have limited financial resources and knowledge of the services available. This situation became worrisome after a recent health scare.

A family member informed me about the Caring Connections program at The Bangor Region YMCA and I was offered their FREE breast cancer screening services

I was extremely grateful to be a part of this program, especially being offered the help that I needed by the professional, friendly and dedicated staff. I have decided to dedicate my 4,000 mile cycling/running challenge across the USA to Caring Connections.

Starting in November 2021, my husband and I will begin this 4,000 mile cycling/running tour across the country, following Forrest Gump's "Box of Chocolates" tour, recreating iconic scenes from the movie along the way, and sharing our journey on Instagram

I am honored to fundraise on behalf of this essential program. My goal is to raise $10,000 for Caring Connections and to help others in a similar situationMy family has a long history of breast cancer and this tour is a personal journey with the hopes of giving back to the community who helped me.

I hope you'll support my cause and donate to my fundraiser for Caring Connections.
