The NJLN proudly awards scholarships each year to nurses pursuing degrees at all levels of their nursing education. Our NJLN Scholarship Awards Program is made possible through the generosity of our donors and through our fundraising efforts, which enables our ability to provide these awards each year.
We are proudly awarding 12 scholarships on December 9, 2020 for $1,000 each to nursing students who have demonstrated their dedication to their academics, share a deep passion for the profession, and their ultimate desire to make a difference in caring for the community. We are at a critical time in healthcare as we face an unexpected pandemic, as well as an ongoing nursing shortage, which has impacted all facets of the profession. We are finding hope in the increased number of those entering nursing school, as well as nurses who are continuing on for their advanced degree.
On behalf of the NJLN Board of Directors and Scholarship Program Committee, we congratulate all of the 2020 award recipients! And thank you for your support in celebrating their education journey, in the Year of the Nurse, and helping us reach our goal to achieve our mission to promote excellence in nursing education.

A CHAMPION FOR NURSING AND PAST NJLN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD RECIPIENT
Barbara Chamberlain, PhD, MSN, MBA, APN
Having spent a successful career in healthcare – as a nurse, nursing administrator, educator, and lobbyist on behalf of nurses – "I will never forget the NJLN as the first organization to award me with a scholarship. This provided encouragement, and I was appreciative of the recognition and financial support, which assisted in my education journey and achieving my goals." – Barbara Chamberlain
Dr. Chamberlain, a retired registered nurse, previously served as the Coordinator of Government Affairs at the New Jersey State Nurses Association. She has had a long and varied career, including President of BJC Consultants; teaching positions at Wilmington University, Drexel University, Atlantic Cape Community College, Gloucester County College, and Stockton State College; Program Manager for Transforming Care at the Bedside and Director of Continuing Education at the New Jersey Hospital Association, various nursing and administrative roles at Kennedy Health System and a variety of consulting and key nursing positions throughout the region. She also honorably served as a Senior Nurse in the United States Air Force Reserve.
Barbara has her doctorate in nursing from Widener University, an MBA from Wilmington University, an MSN from the University of Pennsylvania, a BSN from Stockton State College, and a BA from the school nursing program at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University).
Dr. Chamberlain has been a mentor and inspiration to so many, and a long-time supporter of the NJLN, and most notably, she has established the "Dr. Barbara Chamberlain Transition Scholarship Award" to assist nurses in achieving their goals and help with the financial burden, as the NJLN had helped her. Our deepest gratitude to Barbara for her generosity and the difference she is making in the lives of so many in support of the nursing profession.
