Kids 'n' Cancer: Camp Agape 2023

Camp Agape is dedicated to providing support for children afflicted with cancer and their families.  This beloved ministry offers a compassionate and caring environment, exemplary of Christ's unconditional love, along with an opportunity to shape meaningful friendships and create precious memories.

Dear Jeannie & the Ladies Philoptochos Society,

We had such a wonderful time participating in Camp Agape at Oakbridge camp. We wanted to thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of it. Each activity that took place throughout the weekend was unbelievable. You amazed us with the amount of detail, precision and love that went into executing such a wonderful event.

Throughout our journey, there has been a question that Travis (our 11 year old son) has asked since his diagnosis in March of 2013. We as parents and the doctors have not always been able to answer this for him. His question is: “Who else do we know like me?” Well, this past weekend, thanks to you, we know many other kids like Travis in such a meaningful way. Whether we were doing crafts, the pool, archery, the Mid Way, hill slide, playing games, dancing, singing, eating, taking pictures or planting a tree, we all felt a special connection. We now have a bond that makes us stronger and more empowered knowing we are not alone. This is exactly what these kids and their families need. The friendships that were made with the kids and families will help make what we go through each day so much more bearable.

In closing, words don’t seem to be enough but we would like to say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, for a weekend that will forever live in our hearts. All of your efforts have become images that will stay with us for a lifetime. Thank You to each and every person that made this weekend possible. As a family, we talk about finding the Silver Lining in each day and you all are truly that for so many!
