Betty McKenzie is widowed and has lived in the same home in Onsted since 1972. This home is her legacy; Betty’s memories of the past with her husband and children, and where she hopes to build a future with her fiancé, Rick, a Vietnam veteran.
For Betty and Rick, this house is home. Yet, the steps and landing had become a hazard to their ability to live there safely. For this reason, they were a perfect applicant when our Rock the Block
repair program moved to Onsted earlier this year.
“When Habitat helps, they make you feel a part of things, ” Betty tells us. “I am so appreciative of you being here and coming to our community.”
Through our repair program, Habitat is working in all of Lenawee County and helping homeowners like Betty and Rick, live safely where they want to be-- at HOME.
