In the last weeks of Jeff's life, he received numerous calls, cards and letters from former players. Those former player's words tell the story of Jeff's life. Some of them said:

"As a young man, you were very inspirational to me and a great coach",
"God truly blessed me growing up with teachers and coaches like you"!
"You helped me believe in myself and taught me the values of hard work and being a good role model,"
"You are the man I always looked up to and wanted to be--I am still working on that!"

Perhaps this next and last former athlete said it all in very few words:

"Tell Coach I Love Him!"
