Martin's Story

Dear Friend,

I want to share with you what my Camp Magic experience means to me in hopes that you will help the Y give every child and teen the same opportunities I experienced.

I have had the pleasure of growing up at Camp Jordan’s Leaders School program over the last 6 years, and it has been a highlight of my summer every year. The first time I walked down the Camp Jordan road was for Middle School Leaders School and I didn’t know it then, but Leader School would instantly become an irreplaceable part of my summers. Since that first year, I have made so many new friends who I look forward to seeing each summer, and have had so many amazing counselors and mentors who have been such a great part of my life. Every year, I looked forward to expanding my comfort zone and gaining new experiences by trying new trips like canoeing the St. Croix and Climbing Katahdin, and trying new classes like Archery and being at the High Ropes Course; I can’t imagine missing the time we all get together and the traditions camp has.

This last summer I had the honor of being nominated and chosen as a Fellowship Cup winner, it was such an honor to be selected by my peers and mentors as someone who displays all the Y’s core values—Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Kindness—and has become a strong leader both in camp and the Bangor community.

I truly know that being at camp every summer has played such a big part into who I am today, and I could not imagine who I would be today without it! At Camp Jordan I learned how to be myself—I gained confidence and skills, made lifelong friends and it helped fuel my passion for the outdoors.

The opportunities, experiences, skills and life-long friendships I gained because of Camp Jordan are invaluable and something I will cherish for the rest of my life!

Please donate today and help every child and teen have the opportunity to experience Camp Magic and gain the tools and skills to become confident, caring and passionate individuals.
