As an organization which touches the lives of so many people across our region, through so many programs and avenues, it is sometimes hard to communicate the depth and breadth of our YMCA. Please take a moment to watch this video, and also visit our gallery to hear the stories of some extraordinary people who have been touched by the Y.
The Bangor Region YMCA has been supporting our community for 153 years. The current COVID-19 Pandemic has forced our YMCA to cease operations, and we have lost nearly all of our revenue streams. Between now and the end of April, our YMCA will lose over $250,000. The majority of our employees have been temporarily or partially laid off, and it will take us months, perhaps years, to recover.
Early Childhood Education and our All Day School-Age Care Programs have remained open to help support the families of healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential business employees. Without remaining open, these critically needed people would not be able to provide the services that our entire community needs at this time. Many of these families are in need of financial assistance, for which we are providing. This comes at an additional expense to our organization, even at a time of such financial challenge for our Y.
We know this is a difficult time for many organizations and individuals. However, we hope that those who are able, would consider supporting our Y during this very challenging time.
