St. Bernard 2020 Summer Appeal Supporting St. Bernard Prep School

The annual Summer Appeal has helped St. Bernard make significant progress in the expansion and upkeep of the wonderful heritage that is part of the St. Bernard experience. Each summer a specific project is undertaken to improve the campus, expand facilities, increase technology and enhance programs.
During the month of May, an appeal is sent to St. Bernard donors and benefactors describing the project planned for the upcoming summer months. Donations made to the Summer Appeal are tax exempt. The appeal concludes by September.
The Summer Appeal has helped St. Bernard pave roads, repair dorms, build computer labs, install control access systems, create green spaces, upgrade internet and Wi-Fi systems, and, most recently, restore the “Quad” at the heart of the campus. For 30 years, the Summer Appeal has successfully made St. Bernard a better place.
Pandemic, Losses, S4K, Letter, Unprecedented time, unique summer appeal this time
St. Bernard Preparatory School is recognized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization by the IRS and all gifts made to the school are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Without the kind and generous support of the St. Bernard Family of Donors, we would be unable to continue the mission of educating young men and women in the Benedictine tradition. All funds raised by St. Bernard go directly to assisting the School and Abbey in a variety of ways. For over 40 years, St. Bernard continues to conduct an Annual Appeal as well as a Summer Appeal, now in its 23rd year. These appeals help with campus upkeep, beautification, and necessary renovations.
Donors can also choose to contribute to the St. Bernard Preparatory Educational Foundation as seen during our highly successful inaugural Giving Day in March – contributions here help defray the costs associated with attending boarding school for students who are in financial need. Finally, St. Bernard offers the Clairvaux Society for planned giving gifts. A contribution made to any of these specific campaigns or foundations has a direct impact on the future growth and success of St. Bernard. We are blessed by the support and contributions from you that sustain us and we look forward to being able to continue to serve for years to come.
Due to the State of Alabama reducing funding in a scholarship program we participate in, 25 of our current students will not be able to return to us in the 2020-2021 school year. This program supports disadvantaged students and gives them access to a quality education they might never have received otherwise.
St. Bernard is proud of its legacy of educating all who seek knowledge and have a passion for learning - no matter a student's socio-economic circumstances.
That's why St. Bernard Development is proud to launch the Adopt-A-Student Initiative.
A gift of $10,000 will sponsor a day student's tuition for one year and a gift of $25,000 will sponsor a residential student's tuition and boarding for one year. You can make your gift and sponsor a student right here on the Summer Appeal site today!
This is a great opportunity for an alumni class challenge or for several alumni to come together and sponsor a Bernardian.
Contact the Development Office at (256) 255-5857 if you have questions about the initiative.
