The Arts of Healing Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that blends the worlds of art and medicine. The foundation unites physicians from all of the major hospitals throughout the medical center of Houston in an effort to encourage and celebrate the arts while simultaneously raising money for the patients these doctors serve. This is our 3rd year in existence and we are hoping that it will be our best yet. Our event will take place on November 8th at the Post Oak Hotel in Houston benefiting an amazing local organization called
Sunshine Kids. Our art show will feature physicians across the medical community along with a jazz band featuring a mixture of Houston's talented physicians followed by a seated dinner.
There are many studies that show physicians who have artistic abilities may it be painting, music, photography, dancing, etc are better doctors. They have more ability to think outside of the box, more compassionate and higher patient satisfaction. We all hope that every physician we come in contact has the qualities,
Our beneficiary is the Sunshine Kids, we will continue to partner with them for at LEAST the next 5 years. The Sunshine Kids Foundation adds quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they may once again do what kids are meant to do . . . have fun and celebrate life! We look forward to the day when The Sunshine Kids Foundation will no longer need to exist. Until that time, the entire Sunshine Kids family is dedicated to providing the most exciting activities, trips and events for as many young cancer patients as possible.
