Baltimore City Fire Tragedy

“Every day our Firefighters, our first responders put their lives on the line for the sake of others. Today, three Firefighters lost their lives in service to our city, and another remains in critical condition. From this moment, we will honor those we lost today, for their bravery, their courage, their love for helping others and the respect they had for the Baltimore City Fire Department."
-- Baltimore City Fire Department Chief Niles Ford
Baltimore Fire Lieutenant Paul Butrim, firefighter Kelsey Sadler, and firefighter Kenny Lacayo died fighting a fire in a vacant row home in West Baltimore on January 24th.  A fourth firefighter injured in the blaze, John McMaster, was transported to Shock Trauma in critical condition.  The four served a collective 44 years with the department.

OUR FOUNDATION HAS PROUDLY WORKED WITH THE BALTIMORE CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR MANY OF OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS OVER THE YEARS.  LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS HAVE MENTORED YOUTH AT OUR ANNUAL FITNESS DAY AT BOOKER T. WASHINGTON MIDDLE AND VOLUNTEERED THEIR TIME DISTRIBUTING MEALS TO FAMILIES IN BALTIMORE FOR OUR ANNUAL THANKSGIVING BLESSINGS PROGRAM.

ON JANUARY 24TH, THREE OF THEIR BRAVE COLLEAGUES WERE LOST PROTECTING OUR CITY AND ANOTHER WAS LEFT IN CRITICAL CONDITION. IN THEIR TIME OF NEED WE WILL BE RAISING FUNDS TO SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES AND HOPE OUR COMMUNITY CAN COME TOGETHER TO SUPPORT THEM AND HONOR THOSE LOST.
